The Assessor's duties are specified in the New York State Real Property Tax Law and are for the maintenance of the assessment records and the valuation of real property located within the Town of Plattsburgh. Real Property exemptions are available to property owners who meet the eligibility requirements. The applications for these exemptions are available in the office or online. Exemption Applications:STAR (Basic and Enhanced) All exemption applications must be received by March 1. Any applications filed after this date cannot be placed on the assessment roll. Senior Citizen, Enhanced STAR and Disability must be renewed each year as they are based on income. Those seniors who receive the Enhanced STAR and have filed for the state verification option need not renew. |
